Transportation

School Bus Transportation: A Shared Responsibility

The Louis Riel School Division strives to provide safe, efficient and reliable transportation for students to and from the school in accordance with the Manitoba Public Schools Act and the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.

Parents/guardians are responsible for the supervision of their children to, from and at the school bus stop.

All Kindergarten to Grade 3 students must be met/accompanied by a parent or an approved guardian.

School Bus Rider Safety

SCHOOL BUS SAFETY STARTS AT HOME, EVERYDAY. Parents/guardians can play a vital role in teaching children to become safe riders by explaining and promoting school bus safety at home. This will complement the school bus safety program taught in all the schools for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students and promotes the overall safety and well-being of students.

In August, all the first-time Kindergarten students receive an invitation to attend School Bus Rider Safety Information Session, brochure and colouring book to prepare them for their first school day. We encourage parents/guardians to study the School Bus Rider Safety Program brochure, the Transportation of students’ brochure and review the video “School Bus Safety Starts at Home” with their children.
