The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:38 p.m.
There were no questions from the public at the beginning of the meeting.
The Board received three presentations.
BLAST — the before-, lunch- and after-school supervision program — is in its first year and has gone very well. Staff have been great and families are relieved to have the program. There is a waiting list, and plans are in the works for a slow expansion, where possible.
PROPEL — a review of the program at Nelson Mac and at Jeanne-Sauvé — was also presented. Two students described their experiences, and the Board was extremely impressed with their passion, reflections and poise. It is a great program for great students.
An overview was provided of the Workplace Wellbeing initiative and the work being done in LRSD regarding staff wellness. Roza Grey and Shauna Streich are working with leaders to begin to infuse wellness into everyday work life. This can be a long journey, but the division is committed, and when staff are well, that certainly trickles down to students.
Information was provided on heating and cooling capital projects, the public consultation on 3280 St. Mary’s Rd., and the enrolment report.
Congratulations were offered to Jay McGurran and Erin Lauze on their confirmed positions for LRTA.
Policies were reviewed.
The last item on the agenda was the exciting announcement of the appointment of LRSD’s new superintendent, Jackie Connell. The Board is pleased to welcome Ms. Connell to LRSD.
