J.H. Bruns Traffic Study Presentation
As part of continued efforts to realize a much-needed expansion to the J.H. Bruns Collegiate building, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) contracted traffic engineers from MORR Transportation Consulting Ltd. to conduct a thorough traffic study around the school.
An initial study took place in October 2023, but to ensure the study considered the most current enrolment numbers, the consultant was asked to review the study in December 2024 with observations of traffic around the school being conducted in early January 2025.
The traffic study was presented to the public on Jan. 16. (Follow the links to find a video of the presentation and the presentation slides.)
Results confirmed that transportation infrastructure surrounding the school is adequate to support the expansion of the school building and increasing enrolment.
Some possible improvements have been identified, and LRSD will seek to work with City of Winnipeg to explore potential to make these changes.
Included in those potential changes is a formal pedestrian crossing, for which the division submitted a request to the City of Winnipeg in September 2024, alongside a copy of the traffic study. A copy of the traffic study has been shared with Councillors Matt Allard and Brian Mayes.
An updated report will be posted in the coming weeks, as soon as it is available.
